Take for example what recently happened in Thailand with the Tsunami. Some time last year the ‘planet’ Sedna was discovered, named after the Inuit Goddess of the Sea. It is approximately 6 billion miles from the Earth (a space shuttle would take forty years to reach it).
During the time of the Tsunami disaster, I was watching one of the TV news reports on the incident, when I was guided to pick a book off a shelf. I thought this was rather bizarre and random because, at the time I was staying with a friend, and I was not familiar with all the books on display. It was a book on mythology. As I flicked through the pages I reached the alphabetical listing at the back of the book. I followed the urge to scan the words under the ‘s’ section. As I did not know what it was I was looking for, I ran my index finger down the column a few times. Suddenly, the name Sedna jumped out at me. Excitedly, I turned to the section relating the story to refresh my memory.
The myth of Sedna is all about love and betrayal. There are quite a few variations of this story but the end is always the same. Sedna refuses to marry any of the eligible young men that are brought before her. She prefers to stand at the shore and stare out at the ocean. One day, while standing at the shore listening to the sounds of the sea, a mystery voice beguiles Sedna with promises of a good life if she were to marry him. It is a bird god disguised as a man who tricks Sedna into marrying him and after stealing her away from her home reneges on his promises. Her father, missing Sedna, sets out to bring her home again. However, the husband discovers their plan and causes a terrible storm over their little boat while they are at sea. As a sacrifice, Sedna’s father hurls his daughter into the ocean. He wishes to appease the storm/wind gods and spare his own life, but as Sedna clings to the side of the boat he needs to hack off her fingers. As he does so, Sedna’s fingers transform into the seals, dolphins, walruses and other sea creatures. Eventually she sinks to the bottom of the ocean where she becomes goddess of the ocean and is later joined by her father and black dog (in some stories, the dog is the husband)
I could not help feeling that somewhere on the ocean floor, where the Tsunami waves started Sedna’s energy was involved and I sensed it as an angry energy. Perhaps she is not happy with the pollution of her oceans and the cruelty to her sea creatures. Most importantly what I felt she was saying was she is not happy with how children are being abused in Thailand or how women are treated. Creating such a wave may have destroyed many innocent lives but look how it has opened the hearts of fellow humans to give generously and how life there will be very different now with all this attention.
We
need to be aware of spiritual messages coming through to the Earth
during these times. These messages come to help us transform our way of
feeling, thinking and doing. As humanity brings forth the Divine Cosmic
Love all is transformed into a more joyous and harmonious way of being.
